Verdi Community Council Update

This Saturday is Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful! We wanted to pass along the word that the KTMB team is having their annual River clean up this coming Saturday, September 26th at 9:00am-Noon, they will be meeting at Crystal Peak Park. I am forwarding along their notification email below should you be interested in assisting!

There are also residents wanting to focus more on highway 40 clean up (in addition to this). This is purely a community volunteer based effort as opposed to being a “sponsored” event so you will need to bring your own tools/supplies but trash bags will be available… Janet Ravey will be starting at 8am around Trelease Lane and working down to bridge street.

Hope to see you out and about if you’re able!!

Item Update(s):

Library: we are working to move forward with finding out what is necessary from the community to expand the Library hours short term, retaining this resource long term and researching this locations potential as a bigger community resource for future utilization. We will hope to keep good updates coming on that front!

Verdi Commercial Park: The developer and their representatives did hold their community meeting last week (9/14/15) we had about 20 residents in attendance and heard some REALLY great comments/ suggestions! Attached is some more reference material should you be interested. Our thought at this point would be to draft a letter with the points made by residents as follow up with the Developers Team and ultimately provide to the planning commission in effort of having some form of feedback from the Verdi community for their consideration.

West Meadows Development: Is moving forward. Do not have specifics but residents within 750 feet will be receiving a notice from City of Reno very shortly and we will be sure to share with the rest of the community.

New item(s):

California Split: For our Sierra County residents… I was provided with the attached brochure last night, as apparently there was a group from Sierra County collecting petition signatures at the post office yesterday afternoon… naturally I was intrigued/interested! Still need to do more research for myself but wanted to get this out to everyone for their own reference purposes seeing as a petition is being circulated. I made a couple calls, to our Sierra County representatives and the opposing group, Keep it California, http://www.keepitcalifornia.org/support.html. Let me know if you would like more details on upcoming meetings on this topic.

As always, should you prefer not to receive these updates please simply respond letting us know. Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Carly Borchard
