Message from the Verdi Community Library:
“There is a Washoe County Library Board of Trustees meeting this Wednesday August 19th at 4pm at the NW Reno Library if anyone is available to attend to show support for keeping the Verdi Community Library open. At the board meeting in June Duncan Traner library supporters overshadowed the Verdi Community Library supporters. Since the county is opting to keep Duncan Traner library open (I) would like to have as many people possible attend the board meeting this Wednesday to show support to keep the Verdi Community Library open.”
We apologize for such late notice on this, however, we were just made aware ourselves this past weekend… It seems the Library Board is meeting to talk about/vote on reducing the Verdi Library hours, yet again. The board is proposing to close this Library on Saturdays and cut the Wednesday hours to 2:30-6:30pm. Several residents and local parents in our community are urging support to keep this Library open at least one day a week, preferably on the weekend. The meeting is at the NW Reno Library, which is located at 2325 Robb Drive, Reno, NV 89523.
We are simply passing this information along to the community. Should you have questions, please feel free to contact us and we will see where we may be of assistance. Should you no longer wish to receive these updates/notifications please simply respond via email.
On a personal note, I’m a bit embarrassed to say I have only used this library a limited number of times, however, LOVE having the option available. I would like to support and encourage our community to save this establishment and have rearranged my schedule to be in attendance. Hope to see you if you can and if able!
