WHAT: Reno City Council is hearing Verdi residents’ opinions on the 39 Ventures materials processing facility (the “rock crusher/screening machine”)
WHO: ALL VERDI RESIDENTS SHOULD ATTEND!
WHEN: July 29th (time TBD; 6pm has been requested but won’t be verified until approximately July 19th)
WHERE: Reno City Council Chamber, One East First Street, Reno, NV 89501
WHY: To hear Verdi residents’ (and 39 Ventures’s) opinions on this project, and (hopefully) vote to approve or deny the application.
1) SHOW UP! If you don’t show up, the city council thinks you don’t care.
2) Be prepared to speak for up to 3 minutes to the city council to describe exactly why you feel the 39 Ventures project should or should not be allowed to proceed (use facts – not simply “I don’t like it” or “it hurts property values”… a better point would be specific, quantifiable impacts on local traffic/wildlife/cyclists/pedestrians/etc.)
3) Need help? Contact Gene Gardella at genegardella(at)yahoo.com for help formulate your presentation.

Our next Crystal Peak Park cleanup will be Tuesday morning, August 11, at Crystal Peak Park (I-80 exit 3 and follow the signs to the park for those not familiar with it).
As an added bonus, anyone in the community who comes out and helps cleanup the park will be invited to Cabela’s next Friends and Family event at the store (date tbd). Anyone interested should contact Jamie at james.klund(at)cabelas.com
Remember to wear a hat, sunscreen and bring a bottle of water. Thanks for helping keep this beautiful park a real jewel in the Washoe County park system. An email reminder will be sent a couple days before the cleanup.
Reno City Council is placing the 39 Ventures project on the agenda for the July 22nd meeting. Details will be available at this page. The agenda is not yet posted, but should be soon.
Because this meeting will have a substantial impact on the future of Verdi, it is important that ALL VERDI RESIDENTS make an effort to show up. The Verdi Community Council is preparing a series of meetings that will help Verdi residents prepare to make an effective presentation to the Reno City Council.
The Verdi Community Meeting has been officially scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 6:30 PM, at the VFW Hall (corner of Bridge and Highway 40). This is a change form the original tentative date.
We would like to present information as received from City Council and 39 Ventures to request your valuable feedback.
We established this organization to represent our fellow residents, therefore, it is extremely important to us that we to share this information, and obviously value your input and response.
Check here frequently for updates… We have a meeting coming up on June 22nd (tentatively to be held at the VFW Hall, time TBD. The purpose of this meeting is to keep Verdi residents informed regarding recent events affecting the 39 Ventures project.
We had 10 total people come out to help pull weeds at Crystal Peak today! We worked from 9:00am to 11:30am, equaling 25 volunteer hours! We popped a lot of thistle and pulled a lot of mustard. Great job everyone! Thank you so much for your efforts to help us keep this park looking good.
Thanks again everyone,
Park Ranger I, Truckee River District
Washoe County Community Services Department
Thanks to those who have signed up or emailed me regarding tomorrow’s park clean-up at Crystal Peak Park at 9am. It’s not too late to RSVP and help out for an hour or two tomorrow morning. We have eight folks confirmed, mostly neighbors and community folks but a few Cabela’s outfitters, too. We also expect a few “walk-ups” so an anticipated good showing for Crystal Peak Park clean-up number two this year. We appreciate your interest in our adopted park and in this beautiful recreational area in our backyard.

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States of America. The “National Moment of Remembrance” resolution was passed December 2000 which asks that at 3 p.m. local time, for all Americans “To voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to ‘Taps.”
