Crystal Peak Park Cleanup Event June 14

Team and Park Enthusiasts,

It’s time for our second park clean-up at Cabela’s adopted county park and your local gem, Crystal Peak, on Tuesday, June 14 from 9 to 11am. Please park in the lower lot by the river and ponds and we’ll do whatever chores and maintenance the county park ranger has organized for us. If you have an ATV/UTV and want to bring it to help haul debris, that would be great. Just email me by June 12 so I can let the park ranger know a couple days in advance how many of us will be there so he can have enough tools, bags, etc., for us.

For Cabela’s outfitters, you can either sign the sign-up sheet in the break room or just email me. Thanks and see you at our beautiful neighborhood park June 14. Feel free to share this with your neighbors and friends via email or social media.

Crystal Peak Park Cleanup – April 23rd

Join us at 10 AM on April 23rd at Washoe County’s Crystal Peak Park for a Cache In/Weed Out event. You will learn how to recognize and kill several types of Invasive Weed Species. This event will be co-sponsored by Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space. They will provide us with a Ranger (our own Geocaching Ranger Nick), instructions, and some basic tools. You should bring some tools yourself if they are available to you. Consider bringing: a hat, sunscreen, water, gloves, shovels, clippers, and rakes. The county will be providing disposal bags for the weeds. We will have a “We’ll bring the hot dogs and you bring something too.” potluck after the CIWO ends at about 12 PM. Kids and pets (bring a leash) are welcome.

River Clean-up

Please see the event announcement from Nick Steuer, Truckee River District Park Ranger:

“We wanted to inform you that Crystal Peak Park is one of the clean-up sites for KTMB’s River Clean-up coming up on Saturday, September 26th from 9:00am – Noon. We would love it if you all could be a part of this project! The focus will be removing the vegetation and invasive weeds from around the ponds. We will also be working on raking leaves, litter pick-up and popping Mullein from the field. We will have a green waste dumpster on-site as well.”

If you are available, please go to and click on the “sign up to volunteer today” link.
